Programming your Netduino with C# is fine and all, however, I am not going to do it any more. It is super easy to make the switch to a more forgiving programming language by the name of Visual Basic or VB.
I was in the middle of a project and I started to have thoughts about going back to Arduino when I finally gave VB with the Netduino a shot. After making the switch My difficulty with syntax disappeared, the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) stopped, and my development became much more rapid. Obviously if you like or are good at programming C# that is great, this and future videos are for those souls who can’t hang and or enjoy or know VB better.
So to start programming your Netduino with BB you will need to install the following:
- Visual Studio 2010 for VB
- .Net Micro Framework 4.2 or greater (4.1 was pree VB support)
- Netduino SDK 4.2 or greater
- Flash your Netduino firmware up to atleast version 4.2 (You can check out my firmware upgrade tutorial here)
